Insect repellent capability
This isn't effective as an insect repellent; unlike Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus (OLE) this product doesn't contain any P-Menthane 3,8-diol (PMD) which is the active insect repellent agent that is approved by center of disease control (CDC). Lemon eucalyptus essential oil is not effective in repelling mosquitoes.
>>>>N-essentials: Thanks for your feedback. Please note that trace elements of P-Menthane 3,8-diol (PMD) are typically very low in Lemon Eucalyptus essential oils and in the case of our current batch, the GC Analysis did not capture this. This does not mean that our Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil do not have traces of this component as the sample tested has very low concentrations.
In any case, P-Menthane 3,8-diol (PMD) and the other components such as the citronellol content in the oil add to the insect repellent properties. As for being an effective mosquito repellent, you will need to have high trace elements of P-Menthane 3,8-diol (PMD) of which this essential oil do not provide as it has typically a concentration of less than 2%.
In order to obtain higher concentrations of PMD content, the Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil would have needed to be purified and refined to reduce the citronellal content while increasing the PMD content. But our 100% pure Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil has not gone through this purified and refining process and hence our pure product is not suitable for your application.
