  • Botanical name: Aloe Barbadensis
  • Colour: Clear, colourless
  • Ingredients: New formulation! Aqua, Xanthan Gum, Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis) Powder, Guar Gum, Phenoxyethanol (and) Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Sorbate

WHY CHOOSE N-ESSENTIALS ALOE VERA GEL

This is a new formulation from N-essentials. The previous formulation of aloe vera gel used ethanol as a preservative (at a level that was not drying on the skin) that gave the product an alcoholic smell. This smell wasn't a desired characteristic in some end-use skincare products. With our new formulation, the preservation system is maintained, by way of safe levels of phenoxyethanol and Ethylhexylglycerin and potassium sorbate, but with the added benefit of no alcoholic smell.

Aloe Vera Powder is extracted from the hollow inner leaf of the Aloe plant and is freeze-dried to create a powder. It is soluble in water and is a popular ingredient in the manufacture of cosmetics.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT ALOE VERA FOR SKIN

Aloe vera, also known as Aloe barbadensis, is a succulent plant species of the genus Aloe with green-greyish leaves that are dense, fleshy, serrated, and lanceolate in form. It is native to the Arabian Peninsula but can be found growing wild in tropical and arid climates all over the world.

Each aloe vera plant's triangular leaf is made up of three layers, the innermost of which contains a transparent gel made up of 99% water and approximately 75 potentially active ingredients.

The inner leaf juice or gel is extracted from the rind by machine or by hand, then cold-pressed to preserve the active ingredients. The gel is transparent, odourless, and tasteless, with no leaf skin or yellow bits.

Since it is composed of more than 95% water, many people find that aloe vera gel can be used to improve the appearance of the skin.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT ALOE VERA GEL ON HAIR

Do you find yourself having to wash your hair multiple times a week to strip it of oil and grease? Are you looking for a natural way to improve the appearance of your hair follicles without relying on supermarket-bought products? Aloe vera gel on hair could be the perfect solution.

Dry hair is a common problem for many people. Unfortunately, supermarket shampoos and conditioners are often filled with artificial ingredients that do little to help the problem. Aloe vera gel, on the other hand, contains natural ingredients that may improve the appearance of hair strands. Dry hair can also cause flakes on your scalp. Adding aloe vera gel to your shampoos can give your hair a clean appearance.

Of course, before applying aloe vera gel liberally to your scalp and hair, it’s important to do a patch test to ensure you do not experience any adverse effects. Simply take a small amount of aloe vera gel and apply it to your skin. Leave it for 24 hours — if you do not develop any type of irritation, it should be safe to use on your hair. If you have any doubts, contact a medical professional before use. Please note that aloe vera gel is for topical application only. It cannot be ingested.

There are a variety of ways you can incorporate aloe vera gel into your beauty routine to improve the appearance of your hair.

BENEFITS OF ALOE VERA GEL

Aloe vera thrives in hot, dry climates. To survive in harsh conditions, the plant's leaves store water, which then explains why the liquid is a primary ingredient. It’s no wonder why aloe vera gel has long been recognised as a natural and effective way to improve the appearance of skin without leaving a greasy residue. So, if you're looking to add a light ingredient to upgrade your moisturiser, aloe vera gel may be an appropriate choice. Aloe vera gel lightly exfoliates and won’t rub your skin raw, which makes it an essential part of your skincare routine.

USES OF ALOE VERA GEL

Aloe vera can be added to a multitude of recipes:

  • Moisturiser
  • Face toner
  • Face mask
  • Face wash
  • Serum
  • Exfoliator
  • Make-up remover
  • Hair conditioner

CAN I PUT ALOE VERA GEL ON MY FACE?

Absolutely, applying aloe vera gel to your face can offer a gentle, natural approach to skincare. Its lightweight, non-greasy texture makes it an excellent application for your skin night or day.

WHEN SHOULD YOU NOT USE ALOE VERA GEL?

ALLERGY OR SENSITIVITY

Some individuals may be allergic or sensitive to aloe vera. Signs of an allergic reaction can include redness, rash, swelling, itching, or burning sensation upon application. It's recommended to perform a patch test on a small area of skin before using it more broadly, especially on the face.

SEVERE BURNS OR WOUNDS

It should not be applied to open, deep, or severe wounds. In such cases, medical treatment should be sought, as applying aloe vera might interfere with the healing process or lead to infection.

OVER BROKEN SKIN

Applying aloe vera gel on broken or severely damaged skin can potentially cause irritation or delay healing. It's best to allow the skin to heal before applying aloe vera to avoid any adverse reactions.

WITH CERTAIN SKIN CONDITIONS

Although aloe vera is a gentle product, it's essential to consult with a dermatologist before using it, as it may not be suitable for everyone and could potentially exacerbate certain conditions.

IS IT OKAY TO LEAVE ALOE VERA GEL ON THE SKIN OVERNIGHT?

Yes, it is generally okay to leave aloe vera gel on your skin overnight. Many people find that using aloe vera gel as part of their nighttime skincare routine helps to maximise its benefits.

However, it's important to ensure that your skin reacts well to aloe vera gel before leaving it on for extended periods. Conduct a patch test by applying a small amount of the gel to a discreet area of your skin and wait for 24 hours to check for any adverse reactions. If your skin shows no sign of irritation or allergic reaction, you can safely apply aloe vera gel to your face or body before bedtime.

For best results, cleanse your skin thoroughly before applying a thin layer of aloe vera gel. This will help to remove any impurities or makeup residues, allowing the aloe vera to penetrate more effectively. After applying, you can leave the gel on your skin overnight and rinse it off with cool water in the morning.
