COMMON USES & APPLICATIONS

For skin

  • Moisturiser base: Absorbs without residue and gives DIY moisturisers their water phase, suiting oily and combination skin.
  • Facial toner: Thin with floral water for a non-greasy toner that preps skin before a serum.
  • Gel masks: Mix with kaolin clay or cosmetic powders into a spreadable mask that rinses clean.
  • Eye-area gel: Blend into eye formulations to reduce the appearance of puffiness.

For hair

  • Conditioners and curl creams: Adds slip and light hold for smoother-looking, softer-feeling strands.
  • Scalp treatments: Carries actives into scalp blends and lifts flakes and buildup for a cleaner finish.

For DIY and body

  • Hand gel base: Forms the gel structure in DIY hand gels. Our version holds no alcohol, so add a high-strength alcohol if a sanitiser is the aim.
  • Fragranced formulations: Takes essential oils and fragrance oils without an alcoholic undertone cutting across the scent.
  • Serums and after-shave gels: Supplies the water phase and a light, fast-absorbing texture.

WHEN NOT TO USE IT

  • Allergy or sensitivity: Signs of a reaction include redness, rash, swelling, itching or a burning sensation. Patch test a small area before wider use, especially on the face.
  • Broken or damaged skin: Do not apply to open, deep or damaged skin. Let it recover first.
  • Existing skin concerns: Check with a dermatologist before use if you have a specific skin concern, as aloe vera does not suit everyone.

FORMULATING NOTES

  • Add to the water phase and fold in heat-sensitive ingredients at cool-down.
  • Combine with a carrier oil or a humectant such as vegetable glycerine to raise moisture levels.
  • Mix small batches and store correctly, since this is a water-based product.
  • Patch test before first use.

HANDLING & STORAGE

  • For external use only, do not ingest.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Keep the container tightly closed between uses.

WHAT IS ALOE VERA GEL?

Aloe vera, known botanically as Aloe barbadensis, is a succulent with dense, fleshy, serrated leaves whose inner leaf holds a clear gel that is more than 95% water. Our conventional gel is made from freeze-dried aloe powder drawn from that inner leaf, which dissolves in water and blends readily into cosmetic formulations.

Our formulation is alcohol-free. It holds its preservation through phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin and potassium sorbate rather than ethanol, which is why it has no alcoholic smell. Our organic version relies on naturally derived ethanol as its preservative, giving that product a light alcoholic aroma that some finished skincare formulas are better without.
