6 Diffuser Blends to try for the 4 seasons

Regular housecleaning can only do so much to keep your indoor space smelling fresh. To completely eliminate any smells, you may need to spray every corner with an air freshener a few times each day. Doing so, however, comes with the risk of coating your interior surfaces with chemicals.

You can avoid this by using an oil diffuser instead. It’s a device designed to disperse essential oils into the air. Essential oils are the purest compounds that can be extracted from plants. They are highly concentrated, which is why they are very fragrant. A few drops are enough to deodorise a medium-sized room for hours on end.

Essential oils are available in a wide variety of scents. While you can use a single diffuser blend to aromatise your indoor space all year round, it’s not a bad idea to try a new blend every season.

How Can Essential Oils Help With Different Seasons?

Looking for a natural way to freshen your home throughout the seasons? Try essential oils! If you want your home to be a welcoming space, regardless of the weather outside, handcrafted diffuser blends could be exactly what you’re looking for.

For instance, if the weather is warming up and you’re planning a thorough spring clean, citrus-based essential oils like lemon or grapefruit can help freshen up your space. As we turn the corner into summer, try using woodsy and earthy scents such as sandalwood or cedarwood to complement the weather. In autumn, when the days start getting shorter and colder, essential oils like juniper leaf are perfect for adding warmth to your space. And as winter temperatures really start dropping, use spicy essential oils like cinnamon bark and nutmeg to keep your home fresh and inviting.

No matter what season it is, there’s a perfect essential oil combination.

Essential Oil Blends for Summer

Lemon, Pine Needle and Sweet Orange

Summer is all about outdoor fun. Unfortunately, this isn’t the reality for employees who are trapped in an indoor office all day. One way to create the summer vibe you desire is to fill the room with the right aroma. A blend of lemon, pine needle, and sweet orange essential oils offers a bright and happy feel that reminds you of summertime treats, such as fruity refreshments and cocktails.

Lavender, Bergamot, Eucalyptus and Grapefruit

End each summer day refreshed by diffusing a blend of lavender, bergamot, eucalyptus, and grapefruit essential oils. Nothing says summer quite like the aroma of this amazing diffuser blend. Just be careful not to put too much of any of its ingredients to achieve your desired scent.

Essential Oil Blends for Autumn

Patchouli, Lavender and Tea Tree

After all the vigour of summer comes the gloom of autumn, as the body and mind prepare for the cold months. Create a welcoming home space by diffusing a daintily formulated blend of patchouli, lavender, and tea tree essential oils. The minty and spicy aroma of this blend will soon become all you associate with autumn.

Essential Oil Blends for Winter

Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Lemon Grass

The combination of eucalyptus, rosemary and lemon grass scents produce just the right blend to mask the mild smell your nose picks up from your kitchen, garbage bins, pets, and toilet. They are particularly ideal for diffusing during winter when the family spends more time together inside the house.

Essential Oil Blends for Spring

Lavender, Sweet Orange and Pine Needle

Come springtime, you’ll be looking for a scent that complements the improved weather outdoors. Sweet orange, pine needle, and any other essential oil from the citrus family mixed with lavender essential oil might be the diffuser blend you need. Not only is this blend aromatic, but it is also great at keeping the whiff of thawing organic matter from seeping into the house.

How to Blend Essential Oils for My Diffuser

Using essential oils in a diffuser is an excellent way to take advantage of their many benefits. To create your own custom aromas, you first need to understand the art of blending different essential oils together — it isn't as complicated as it sounds!

Start by selecting no more than three essential oils that have complementary scents. Once you've chosen, start by adding 1-2 drops of each essential oil in approximately 200ml of water and test the scent. If it's too strong or not strong enough, continue to add drops until it reaches the desired strength. You can also vary the proportion of each oil depending on if you'd like one scent to be dominant or balance them equally.

Keep in mind that essential oils are quite strong and should not come into contact with your skin. Always wear gloves when making your own diffuser blends, and set up your mixing station in a well-ventilated area.

With just a few beginner tips, now you'll be creating signature blends in no time!
