WHAT IS PURE ROSEMARY ESSENTIAL OIL?

Pure Rosemary Essential Oil is extracted from Rosmarinus officinalis, an evergreen herb in the mint family. The oil's chemical profile can vary, and the 1,8-cineole chemotype is notable for its fresh, eucalyptus-like aroma. Historically, rosemary has been used in traditional practices across the Mediterranean region for its distinct fragrance. Its powerful and herbaceous aroma makes it a staple in aromatherapy for creating an invigorating and clarifying atmosphere.

Historically treasured by ancient civilisations such as the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians and Hebrews, Rosemary was often used in rituals, incense and herbal preparations for its purifying and protective qualities.

TOPICAL APPLICATION

Below are simple recipes to try:

  • Shampoo — Combine 170 grams of aloe vera gel, 3 tablespoons of olive oil and 10 tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl. Stir together 15–18 drops of Rosemary and 7–10 drops of peppermint essential oils, and pour the aromatic duo into a glass bottle ready for use.
  • Scalp oil — Mix 5 drops of Pure Rosemary Essential Oil with 5 teaspoons of carrier oil such as jojoba or coconut. Mix well, then gently massage the blend into your scalp after showering. You can leave the oil in as a leave-in treatment or rinse it out after allowing it to absorb for 5 to 10 minutes.

HOW TO SAFELY USE ROSEMARY OIL IN DIY RECIPES

According to the article: “A review on the use of essential oils in cosmetics discusses the importance of proper formulation and safety precautions to avoid skin irritation”. Essential oils are highly concentrated and should be used with care in cosmetic applications.

  • Dilution is Mandatory: To avoid skin sensitivity, always dilute rosemary oil in a carrier oil (such as jojoba, almond, or coconut oil) before applying it to the skin.
  • Patch Test First: Before applying to a larger area, perform a patch test on a small patch of skin (like the inner elbow) to ensure there is no sensitivity.
  • Frequency of Use: For skincare, limit topical application to a few times per week (2 to 3 times a week) especially for sensitive skin. Do not apply to broken or inflamed skin and avoid contact with the eyes, nose and other sensitive areas..
