COMMON USES & APPLICATIONS

For soap and bath products

• Cold process soap: Press petals onto the top of the bar once it has started to set, rather than mixing them through the liquid batter. Petals left in the wet mixture will brown and fade over time.
• Bath bombs: Press a small cluster into the centre of a bath bomb as it's moulded, so the petals scatter across the water as the bomb dissolves.
• Melt and pour soap: Suspend petals near the top of the mould for a decorative layer that stays visible.

For DIY skin and body care

• Dry exfoliant: Crush the petals into a coarse powder and use alone, or blend into a scrub base, for mechanical exfoliation.
• Facial masks and cleansing blends: Mix crushed petals into clay masks or a cleansing blend with water for texture and colour.

HOW TO USE DRIED RED ROSE PETALS

Making rose water

Rinse the petals in cold water to remove any residue, then simmer them gently for a few minutes. Let the liquid cool and strain out the petals. Store the finished rose water in the fridge and use within about a week.

Making rose-infused oil

Fill a clean, dry jar around halfway with dried petals and top up with a carrier oil of your choice. Leave to infuse for several weeks in a cool, dark spot, shaking occasionally, then strain. Keep the petals fully dry before adding oil, since any residual moisture can lead to mould.

Decorating soap and bath bombs

For soap, add petals to the top of the bar rather than the batter, as prolonged contact with the wet soap mixture causes them to brown. For bath bombs, tuck a small bunch into the centre of the mixture as you press it into the mould, so it's released as the bomb fizzes.
