These natural salt slabs are crafted from ethically-sourced primordial ocean deposits that have been protected in the Himalayan Mountains and are ideal to use for serving sushi, salads, appetisers and fruits when chilled. The slabs can also be used as a hotplate and be heated in the oven or on a direct gas flame when cooking vegetables; meats and seafood; as the delicate, mineral-rich flavour enhances the food that you cook or serve and yet does not over-salt. If cared for properly as per the care instructions below, the slabs can provide years of healthy enjoyment. Hand wash only.

Choose from different size options:

  • Small Rectangle: 20 x 10 x 2.5cm

Cooking instructions:
Slabs can be chilled in the freezer or heated on the gas stovetop, barbeque, or in the oven. Note: Certain foods can discolour your salt plate but do not change its ability to cook great food
  • On electric cooktop – Do not place the slab directly on the cooktop. Use a hob to elevate the slab to create a gap between the heating element and the slab. Heat the slab in the same way as the gas cooktop
  • On a Gas Cooktop – Place the slab on the hob and set the heat to low for 15 minutes and gradually increase the heat to low medium and then medium high in 15 minute increments. Note, that if extreme cooking temperature is required, increase the heat to high for another 5 to 10 minutes. Sprinkle a few drops of water and if they sizzle instantly, the slab is ready to use
  • Heating on an oven -  Follow the instructions as on the gas cooktop. Once the slab is heated to at least 150 degrees Celsius, you can then place it in a preheated oven
  •  On a BBQ – If using a charcoal grill, ensure that you keep the charcoal to one side and place the slab on the other side so as to not expose it on direct heat. If using a gas grill, follow the instructions as described on a gas cooktop
  • As a chiller – Place slab in fridge to cool. Ideal for sushi and sashimi or simply as a fruit platter
Care instructions:
  • Rinse lightly and quickly scrub with steel wool, then rinse again
  • Do not use soap, do not place in dishwasher, and do not submerge in water
  • Dry with a clean cloth and air dry
  • After use, cool completely to room temperature
  • Store in a location with low humidity. Do not store on metal, copper, or bronze surfaces. Himalayan salt does not require the use of any cleanser as it is naturally antimicrobial
